Who We Are

We are a God-fearing, Bible-believing Church. Our name describes us.

“Canadian Reformed Church” We are Canadian meaning that God has placed us in this beautiful country with the calling to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to live as respectable citizens and to promote the coming of God’s Kingdom. We are Reformed meaning our roots go back to the great Reformation (1500’s) when God caused his church to return to the fundamentals (namely: Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone) of the Christian faith. We are Church meaning a gathering or community of people who believe in, worship, and witness to the Triune God.

We believe that God’s Church is known by the pure preaching of the Gospel, by the pure administration of the Sacraments as instituted by Christ (Baptism and LORD’s Supper), and by the exercise of church discipline.

We celebrate together because the Bible directs us to. God rested on the seventh (Sabbath) day from his work. We celebrate the seventh day of rest and Jesus’ resurrection on the first day of the week, Sunday. We apply the “spirit of rest” to the Sunday. Jesus Christ died for our sins and was resurrected on this day and his resurrection points to the eternal rest to come. The early first century Church used to come together on the first day of the week, calling it the LORD’s Day. (more info on Sabbath & Sunday)

Every Sunday in the church building, we hear the Gospel, the Word of God.

The Church is gathered, defended, and preserved by the Son of God, Jesus Christ. The Church is made up out of the whole human race, from the beginning of the world to its end. The Church is biblically called the “Body of Christ”, also the “Bride of Christ”, and He will come back for his own. We do not know when this will be.
